Wii love MOM - the Hula Hoop Hottie!

Jen and Ryan purchased the Wii a few weeks ago; shocker, I know! Actually, I am not sure if Ryan had anything to do with it. Jen went to a friend's house to try out her Wii Fit one morning. She LOVED it, so the very next day she bought the entire Wii system and the Wii Fit... (here's the real shocker) it was not from a yard sale or off Ebay! Way to go Jen!! Anyway, we went to the Menlove's on Father's Day and stayed until almost midnight playing Wii Fit. Everyone got into this Hula Hoop game, especially Mom. Little did she know we were filming. Get ready to pee your pants!

Fun on the Stairs

Last night we were hanging out at Grandma's house and Allison and Zachary figured out how to slide down the stairs just like we all did as kids. We use to go down in sleeping bags and got going really fast, but they were just as happy on their stomachs! But just as anything in life, all fun things eventually come to an end, but in most cases with kids it's when someone gets hurt! The injury looks much worse on film then it actually was. Within a few minutes of the "bump" they were both at the top of the stairs sliding again!

Alli loves taking care of Charlie and being the big cousin. From the time he was a baby she would stand about 1/2 inch from his face and say, "Hi my sweet cousin!" Even after Jen came home from the hospital Alli would call Joshua "sweet cousin!" I am pretty sure now she has learned to call him her brother.

We were hanging out at the Menlove's a few weekends ago and I heard the funniest, cutest conversation as the kids were in the playroom.
Alli: "Okay, Zachy, you be the doctor."
Zachy: "No, I want to be the nurse."
Alli: "Okay, I'm the doctor and you're the nurse Zachy."
Zach: "Otay!" (while holding Mr. Cuddles and sucking his thumb)
Alli: "Charlie can be sick... Charlie boy, come over here."
Alli: "CHARLOS, CHARLOS, come and play doctor."

Slumber Party!

This weekend we have had a Slumber Party with Grandma. Friday night, Saturday night, Sunday night, Grandma had to be out of her house because "there are bugs in it" as Allison says. Grandma's house is being treated for termites and she had to be out of the house all weekend. The kids were excited to have a "slumber party" with Grandma for three nights. The kids are into making "funny faces" for the camera and Grandma is a good sport to follow along!
The weekend isn't even over and Allison is wondering when the next slumber party is going to be!

Birthday Month!

Mom was over for dinner the other night and we were talking about birthdays. Allison was excited to hear that Grandma's birthday was coming up soon. She then asked how old Grandma was going to be and Grandma said, "53." I said, "Mom, I think you are turning 54." We went back and forth for a minute until mom finally said in a stern voice, "I know how old I am going to be." She was really conviced that she was turning 53. I got out a piece of paper and we subtracted the year she was born to this year, and guess what...she will be 54! Sorry mom! I thought I would post now until waiting until "Birthday Eve" so mom will have time to let it sink in that she is turning 54 and not 53. You look great no matter what age you are turning! Here is mom at her birthday last year when she turned 53 and obviously didn't know it!

Uncle "Amum"

Ever since Christmas has been over and everyone has gone back to the daily routines of life, my kids have been especially sad to not have everyone around. Zachary gets on the play phone and makes calls to different family members. His favorite to call is uncle "Amum." So, one day last week uncle Adam was sweet enough to stop by on a break from work and play with Zachary. Zachy had a smile from ear to ear. They read books, played with cars, and Zachy got out the Mickey Mouse hats for them to wear. Thanks Uncle "Amum!"

CHRISTMAS continued...

So... some Christmas traditions are worth keeping around and others are meant to be changed from time to time. There has been a lot of discussion about how we are going to do things this year and it is time we finalize our plan. It would be nice to do a big conference call and have everyone share their opinions but I figured that is what the BLOG is for... right? Okay, the cruise thing is out of the question at this point (maybe we can do it later in the year or something) and Jen and Ryan have a connection with a condo through Launa... but that is looking like it might not happen. So I think we need to answer these few questions...

Do we want to do a gift exchange? Do we want to go somewhere? What do we want to do Christmas morning? Do we want to start any new traditions?

David and I were talking the other day and we came up with some different ideas. We could do a stocking exchange and stuff each others stockings, we could include mom and the little ones in on a stocking/gift exchange. We can bag the whole gift thing. We could still go to Disneyland.

Really, we need to decide if we want a gift exchange or not now that we are not going on a cruise and even if we spend our money on something smaller, let's have a plan for Christmas morning!

My ideas... I think we should do a bunch of little things throughout the week. We could go to Newport and take a gondola ride and see all the Christmas lights on Newport harbor. We could all go to Toys-R-Us and buy a toy to take to an orphanage. We could have a bake-off and see who can make a tastiest treat. We could go caroling at a nursing home. We could ding-dong-ditch a gift to someone we know. Anyway... we can still do an exchange Christmas morning and we can just be creative about what we give.

...so, we all know that Jen is quite the wheeler and dealer. She loves a bargin almost as much as I do. Let's just say, Jen was made to be a "yard saler," she was in her glory!!! I tried to capture it on video (sorry for the poor camera angle). Notice the notebook to log all the money, she would not let that thing out of sight... she was trying to keep track of who sold what since it was the Menlove's stuff, Mom's stuff, and a few of our things. It was sweet, Jen saw this one lady admiring a shirt and and then whispered "Go ahead and just take it," the lady smiled from ear to ear and was SO thrilled to be getting a free shirt! Here is Gina in action...

Finally a New Post!

David's birthday post was up just a little too long. After my camera took a little trip to Texas, it is finally back and I am happy to be putting up a new post. The yard sale this weekend went great and we got rid of lots of stuff. These pictures were taken at 6:30 in the morning and our first customer came at 6:45. Half of the stuff was gone by 8:00! We made a total of $450 with almost $50 of that in selling avocados. We sold them for .25 cents each, so that makes almost 200 avocados sold. I'm good at math! It was a fun day.

Mom finally got rid of the sink and stove we played with as little kids.
The "avocado girl" is what she called herself. She had fun taking the money and putting it in the cash register. Notice Zachy in the background with the Shrek slippers on. They were out to be sold but he had them on all day even though they were way too big for him.

TEXAS

We had a great time in Texas. Here is a recap of our week:

Day 1: Emily and Nora watched a movie and took a nap while Grace and Charlie watched Baby Einstein and took a nap.
Day 2: We celebrated Ben's birthday by taking cupcakes to all the med students, making Cafe Rio's pork burritos, and having chocolate mousse for dessert.

Day 3: We drove to some outlet stores and went shopping. Emily got her very first speeding ticket on the way there. The kids were super good in the car and very patient while we were shopping. We got some great DEALS!!!!!

Day 4: Uncle Stevie came down Friday night after school and spent the weekend with us. We took the kids to a pool at one of Emily's friend's apartment complex. We had planned to go to this pool at the park but it was closed for a "dog festival." Emily went to see if it was open and there were dogs in the water having relay races and the city pound guy in a dunk tank. The park ranger looked at Emily like she was crazy for asking if the pool was open. He said: "Yes ma'am it's open... for the DOGS!! Good thing we had a back-up pool to go to.

Day 5: We went to church (sadly, we did not get a cute church picture of the kiddos). We had fun just hanging out with Uncle Stevie.

Day 6: We drove about an hour and a half and met up with Aunt Tami and Uncle Steve in Corsicana. We met at Walmart and sat outside on some lawn chairs and visited for a while. Then we went to lunch and walked around town. They were so sweet and super happy to meet Charlie and Grace.

Day 7: Photo shoot! Emily and I had a photo shoot before she took us to the airport. Charlie and Grace were being hilarious. Charlie would not stop sucking his hands and Grace was being super wiggly and she wanted to attack Charlie. We got some cute pictures out of it though.

Ryan has this thing with Alli where he asks her why she is getting so big. Usually the response goes something like this: "I want to get bigger so I can get baptized and have a slumber party!" Since I have had Charlie things have changed a bit. Now the conversation goes like this, Ryan: "Alli, stop getting so big! Why do you want to grow up so fast?" Alli: "So I can get boobies and feed my baby milk like Auntie Nora!"

We had a fun weekend seeing Uncle Stevie. He watched Grace for 4 hours (her longest babysitter yet) and it seems like they had a fun time. She wore her Espana shirt just for him. It was very sweet because he even took pictures of her while he watched her so I could see how cute she was being. Hopefully we'll see lots more of him while he's in Texas!

Talk about a funny picture! I figured since Mimi's 80th birthday bash was this weekend, I should post my favorite picture of her. These were taken last year at the Toffoli's New Year's Eve party. Okay, so Adam thinks I am crazy. I am always seeing people on TV or out in public that look like someone I know. I am constantly asking Adam "Hey, doesn't that look like so-and-so?" Sometimes he agrees with me and other times he just thinks I am psycho. Anyway, we were on our way home from Colorado and I saw this guy at the airport (the one with the dark hair). Any guesses on who he looks like? Adam actually agreed with me on this one. I think the reason Adam thinks I am psycho though is that I actually took a picture of the guy. I must admit, I was very nonchalant about it. You guys all know how much I love the guessing game... don't you think it would be fun to post pictures of random people and then we could all guess who it looks like.

I was looking through some old pictures and came across these. It was Christmas morning and mom got everyone in the living room so she could read a letter she got from Stevie. I had a few people at church ask me if today was especially hard. I have thought more about all the fun/funny things about dad. I especially thought of him when we passed out cinnamon rolls today to all the dad's. It reminded me of how much he LOVED sweets. Finding him many times in the kitchen sneaking something, thinking no one saw or heard him, is now a treasured memory. I think Steven will carry on the tradition because he had the most cinnamon rolls of any dad at church today!

This picture I posted is the only digital one I have of dad, since we don't have a scanner, but there is a funny story behind it. Allison was only a few weeks old and dad was her first babysitter (he was so proud of that). As I was getting ready to leave he yelled for me to come into the living room. I really thought something was wrong. He said, "you've got to get a picture of this" Relieved that he just wanted a picture, I thought he was talking about Allison (of course)... but no, he was talking about Roxy trying to get on his lap. He thought it was the greatest thing! I just got the camera and took the picture, but I remember being a little upset that he worried me in the way he called me into the living room and all to take a picture of Roxy. I am very glad I took the picture!

Visiting Grandma...

Last week Adam and I were looking for an excuse to get out of the house. We decided to drive up to Pasadena and surprise mom at work. When we got there mom had just walked out of the office, so we sat Charlie up on this chair in the waiting room with the vase of flowers next to him. Mom walked in and totally lost it... she was so happy!!! Charlie was happy too... look at his smile in the picture with mom.

I have never considered Zachary "all boy." He is definitely my sweet, careful, sensitive one. But just in the past few weeks, his boy side is coming out. Now that the weather is warm we are spending more time outside and there is a lot more mischief to get into!
